Care homes

Heating and hot water for buildings where residents cannot wait

Plant rooms, boilers, hot water and air conditioning for care homes and care groups. Designed for 24-hour demand, maintained on a schedule, with one point of contact across every home.

A care home runs on hot water. Bathing, laundry, kitchens and heating all draw on the same plant, around the clock, for residents who cannot put a jumper on and wait. That is why we design care home plant for resilience first: modular boilers so one unit can be isolated without the building going cold, hot water storage with backup immersion, and a maintenance schedule that catches problems before a CQC inspection or a cold snap does.

We hold service contracts on more than 40 care homes for national care groups, covering plant rooms, AC and planned maintenance across their portfolios, and we look after independent homes in Brighton and across Sussex.

What matters in this sector

The questions you are already asking

The heating cannot go down, even for a day

Modular boiler cascades and twin cylinders mean a single fault never takes the whole building off. On a recent care home plant room we fitted two Keston Heat 2 55kW boilers with a Rinnai 500L hot water system and backup immersion, built for 24/7 reliability.

Work has to happen around residents

We plan strip-outs and changeovers so heat and hot water stay on, keep working areas contained and safe, and agree the programme with the home manager before anyone arrives on site.

Compliance has to be provable

Every visit is recorded per appliance. Gas safety certificates, service records and F-Gas leak checks are issued in a form your compliance file and your inspectors can use.

Several homes, one supplier

For groups we run one agreement across every home: one schedule, one contact, one set of records. That is how we work with a national care group today.

How we work

From survey to a building that stays warm

  1. 1

Survey the plant and the building's real demand, including laundry and kitchen hot water peaks

  2. 2

Design for resilience: modular boilers, stored hot water with backup, correct pressurisation

  3. 3

Phase installation so the home stays warm and hot water stays on

  4. 4

Commission, document and hand over with the compliance records

  5. 5

Planned maintenance at the frequency the plant needs, usually bi-annual or quarterly

Care Homes: common questions

Can you replace our plant room without the home losing hot water?

In almost every case, yes. We phase the work so existing plant stays live until the new plant is commissioned, or bring in temporary hot water for the changeover window. The programme is agreed with the home manager in advance.

Do you maintain air conditioning as well as heating in care homes?

Yes. We are REFCOM F-Gas certificated and already run AC maintenance across a care group's homes alongside the heating plant, under the same agreement.

Do you work with care groups on multiple sites?

Yes. We maintain a national care group's entire estate under one agreement, and can set up the same for regional groups.
