Installation and replacement
Most of the commercial boilers we fit are replacements: plant that has reached the end of its life, or a single large boiler being swapped for a modular cascade so the building keeps running if one unit needs attention. Recent installs include two Ideal iMax Xtra 280kW boilers with magnetic system filters at a Tesco Extra, a four-boiler Ideal cascade at Portchester Community School, and a Keston and Rinnai plant room for a care home that needs hot water 24 hours a day.
Every installation is sized against the building's real heat loss and hot water demand, not a like-for-like swap of the nameplate. We handle strip-out, flues, headers, pumps, pressurisation, controls, commissioning and the handover pack.
Servicing and maintenance
A commercial boiler that is serviced on schedule breaks down less, burns less gas and keeps its warranty. We run annual, bi-annual and quarterly servicing on single boilers up to full plant rooms: nine Hamworthy Modumax modules serviced in a week, a 2,750kW Ideal Evomod bank serving 375 apartments, six Modumax MK2 boilers with every serviceable component replaced in a day.
Servicing is documented per appliance so your compliance file and your insurer have what they need.
Repairs and breakdowns
When plant fails we diagnose the fault and fix it, rather than defaulting to replacement. Burner and gas valve replacement on a 545kW Ideal IMAX XTRA EL keeping a hospital warm, main heat exchangers changed on Hamworthy ModuMax 250kW and Ideal Evomax 150kW boilers, a golf club's main exchanger swapped before winter. Manufacturer parts, fitted by engineers trained on the kit.
Gas safety certificates, pipework, purging and testing
We issue commercial gas safety certificates for landlords, managing agents and business premises, and carry out whole-site gas testing and safety checks, including a full school in a day. On new installations and alterations we run commercial pipework (100mm stainless steel gas mains feeding four boilers and a gas cylinder on one recent job), install gas boosters and solenoid valves, and complete purging and testing to current standards. We have purged and tested commercial gas systems at an airport and across central London.
Commercial plumbing
Commercial plumbing sits inside our heating work rather than as a separate trade. On plant room and boiler projects we take on the hot and cold water services, cylinders and calorifiers, booster and pump sets, pipework and drainage connections, so the mechanical side of a building has one contractor.
That covers new installations, alterations during a plant room refurbishment, and the plumbing repairs that come up on the sites we maintain under contract, for care homes, schools, apartment blocks, retail sites and offices across Brighton and Sussex.

Are you qualified for commercial gas work?
Yes. We are Natural Gas and LPG qualified for commercial pipework, purging and testing, and all work is completed to Gas Safe Register requirements. We issue commercial gas safety certificates for landlords, managing agents and business premises.
Which commercial boiler brands do you install and service?
We are approved commercial partners and service agents for Ideal Commercial Boilers, Hamworthy Heating, Keston Heating and ACV, and we service most other commercial makes. Recent work covers Ideal iMax Xtra, IMAX XTRA EL, Evomax and Evomod, Hamworthy Modumax and ModuMax, Keston Heat 2 and Rinnai hot water.
How often should a commercial boiler be serviced?
At least annually to keep the manufacturer warranty and your gas safety certificate current. Plant that runs hard, such as care homes and hotels, usually benefits from bi-annual or quarterly visits. We will recommend a schedule based on the plant and the building.
Can you replace a boiler without shutting the building down?
Usually. Where the plant allows, we phase the work so one boiler is always live, or bring in temporary heat for the changeover. On a live retail site we plan the install around trading hours.
Do you do commercial plumbing?
Yes, as part of commercial heating work: hot and cold water services, pipework, cylinders and pumps in the buildings we heat and maintain. It is not a standalone service, so it lives on this page rather than its own.
